Departure Port Questions
How do I choose a departure port?
Start with the port you can reach cheapest and easiest. A drive-to port removes airfare, luggage fees and the risk of a delayed flight; if you must fly, pick a port with a short airport transfer (Fort Lauderdale's is 1.8 miles, Port Canaveral's about 45 minutes). Then check that the port sails where you want to go: Miami and Port Canaveral for the Bahamas and Caribbean, Seattle for Alaska, New York for Bermuda and Canada, Galveston for the Western Caribbean.
Which port has the most cruises?
In our live inventory Miami leads by a wide margin, followed by Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale, then Galveston, Seattle and New York. Every card above shows the current count, refreshed daily from the same feed that prices the site.
Should I arrive the day before my cruise?
If you are flying, yes. Most ports and cruise lines advise against same-day flights because a delay can mean a missed ship. Driving in from within a few hours is fine on sailing day; follow the check-in window your cruise line assigns rather than arriving as early as possible.
How much does cruise parking cost?
It varies by port and is set by each port authority: about $20 per day at Port Everglades and Port Canaveral, $25 to $35 per day at PortMiami, $27 to $30 in Seattle, $45 per night in New York, and per-cruise pricing in Galveston. Each port guide lists the current published rates and payment rules with a link to the port's own page.
