Getting to the Port of Seattle and What to Expect

Seattle is the Lower 48's Alaska port. Every April through October, ships sail from two Port of Seattle terminals, Bell Street Cruise Terminal at Pier 66 on the downtown waterfront and Smith Cove Cruise Terminal at Pier 91, on 7-night Inside Passage loops to Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and Glacier Bay. The 2026 season brings 330 ship calls and two new lines, and Sea-Tac Airport is a 30 to 45 minute drive from either pier.

✈ Getting there

  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)Both piers are a 30 to 45 minute drive from the airport depending on traffic. Rideshares and taxis load on the 3rd floor of the airport parking garage, and every cruise line sells airport-to-pier bus transfers.
  • Link light railThe budget route: Link light rail from the airport to Westlake Station downtown (about 40 minutes), then a 6-minute cab or 20-minute walk to Pier 66, or a 15-minute cab to Pier 91.
  • Driving to Pier 66From I-5 take the Mercer Street exit (167), left on 5th Avenue North, slight right on Broad Street under the Monorail, then left on Alaskan Way heading south to the Bell Street terminal.
  • Driving to Pier 91From I-5 take the Mercer Street exit (167), continue 1.7 miles, right on Elliott Avenue West, then right at the West Galer Street flyover (Magnolia Bridge) and follow the signs to Smith Cove Cruise Terminal.
  • Getting aroundPier 66 is a short walk to Pike Place Market, the Seattle Aquarium and the Great Wheel; Pier 91 is about 10 minutes from downtown and the Space Needle.
