Getting to the Port of New Orleans and What to Expect
New Orleans is the only major homeport where your ship spends its first hours on the Mississippi River. Port NOLA runs two cruise terminals side by side on Port of New Orleans Place, the Erato Street terminal for Carnival and the Julia Street terminal for Norwegian and Royal Caribbean, a five-minute walk from the French Quarter and steps from the riverfront streetcar. Sailings run 4 to 7 nights to Cozumel, Costa Maya, the Bahamas and the Western Caribbean, and both terminals have their own covered parking at a flat $25 per day.

- Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY)Taxis, rideshares, airport shuttles and cruise line transfers all run to the terminals; the port does not publish a distance or drive time, so allow for downtown traffic.
- DrivingPort NOLA's route: I-10 to US 90 West (Business, Exit 234A), then the Tchoupitoulas Street exit (11C), follow to Henderson Street and turn left onto Port of New Orleans Place after crossing the railroad tracks. The Erato Street terminal (Carnival) is just past the bridge pier and the Julia Street terminal (Norwegian and Royal Caribbean) is just beyond it. Do not try to enter from the Julia Street or Poydras Street ends of Port of New Orleans Place.
- Streetcar and walkingThe Riverfront streetcar line stops beside the terminals, and the French Quarter is about a five-minute walk or ride away.
